Amara taught secondary mathematics for eleven years, the last four as head of department in a comprehensive in south London, before moving into edtech evaluation for a multi-academy trust. She is unusually interested in the question every vendor dodges: what does this product do when a child gets the answer wrong for the fourth time?

She reviews maths and science platforms for SharperMinds, and runs every product she tests past at least two learners in the target age range before writing a word.
