How we review

We use it properly
Minimum two weeks of real use with a learner in the target age range — not a ten-minute click-through of the marketing site. Paid tiers are bought, not comped.

We score five things, always
The same five criteria every time, so a maths platform and a chess app can be compared on the things that matter to a learner.

We say who wrote it
Every review is signed by a named person with relevant teaching or subject experience, and dated. Re-tests update the date so you know how current it is.

We separate money from scores
Some outbound links earn us a commission and are marked as such. Nobody can pay for a score, a placement or a rewrite. If a product is bad, we say so.
What the scores mean
Each product is marked out of 5 on five criteria. The headline number is the plain average — no secret weighting.

Comment policy
There are no accounts on SharperMinds — we would rather not hold your password. Instead, every comment is read by a human editor before it appears, and the form asks for a few things to keep the spam out:
- A name and a working email address. The email is never published — it exists so we can come back to you.
- At least 25 characters and five words, so a comment is actually useful to the next reader.
- No links. Describe a site by name and we will look it up.
- A short pause between submissions, and a cap on how many you can post in a row.
- Every comment starts as "pending" and only goes live once an editor approves it.
We remove anything abusive, off-topic or promotional, and we do not edit the meaning of what you wrote. If your comment did not appear, it was probably one of the above — you are welcome to try again.
